It's a fact that everyone faces challenges in either their personal or professional lives that seem to be insurmountable and drag on indefinitely. The challenges usually come down to two basic ways of thinking . The first is the thinking of 'not enough'. Not enough money, not enough time to get things done, not enough work-life balance, not enough energy in the day, not enough love or connection in a relationship, not enough resources to grow a business, not enough communication in a business team. The other is the thinking of 'too much' - too much stress, too much weight, too busy at work, too many demands at home, too many demands in a relationship, too much control or micromanagement at work.
Regardless of what it is they all result in the same thing - feelings of not living up to the vision of where we want to go, what we want to do and who we want to be in the world.
It's also a fact that everyone tries different ways to get past it. There's the "I just need to think my way through this" approach, the "I'll just set a goal" approach, the "next time this happens I'll do ..." approach and countless others which never work or only work for a short while and then they stop. We are endlessly creative with the tools we have at our disposal, but unfortunately we never learn the right tools to properly address any of these things. As a result we remain subjectively involved in the situation we are trying to fix unable to see what the real cause is and the things we try to do to fix it only make matters worse.
Why? Because what's underlying all of this are emotions that few of want to face or even recognize as being there in the first place. To avoid them we develop patterns of behavior that actually reinforce the behavior we're trying to stop and over time that pattern of behavior becomes part of our personality. Think of the person who in certain situations always gets angry, or jealous, fearful or procrastinates.
What can a coach do about this? A coach is an objective pair of eyes who can help identify the underlying issue which causes you to think and behave in a certain way that keeps you from getting past your blocks. We use proven methods to shift your thinking and provide you with the tools and processes you need to keep you moving forward until your goal is reached.
Most people don't even recognize they are stuck instead and point to external factors as the cause of preventing them from living the life they dream of. They point to 'successful' people as having some special advantage that they don't. In reality the reason people we deem successful are that way is because in rare cases they were fortunate enough to grow up in an environment that fostered the way of thinking that creates success. What happens most often though is that they hire a coach to help them achieve success in the areas of their life that aren't where they want them to be. Success is available to you if you want it regardless of what area of your life you want to improve and once you take the decision to act achieving it is only a matter of time.
